The Umbwe Route is the steepest route on Mt. Kilimanajro, but very popular for geologists, hard core climbers, geographers and people who like to take the path less traveled. It’s truly a route only chosen by a few.
It is the only route, which shows clearly the distinctive volcanic features of Mt. Kilimanjaro all the way up to its beautiful summit. Once at the top of the amphitheater, there are craters and glaciers. It offers a good combination to the Southern Circuit and the Western Breach or descending via Marangu route or through Mweka route.
