You need visas for both Kenya and Tanzania. You can purchase a visa for Tanzania at the border town, Namanga, on arrival from Kenya. You can get a 7-day transit visa in Kenya if you are coming from Nairobi airport – cost is $20 – and going into Tanzania. Tourist visas are also avaiable on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and Dar es Salaam. They are usually single entry.
Please Note: Visa regulations change from time to time and it’s best to double-check, call the embassy to confirm, or even consider purchasing your visa in advance. There is both a Kenyan and Tanzanian embassy in Washington DC that issues visas.
