Kilimanjaro’s little sister – Mt. Meru

Often overlooked and sometimes mistaken for Kilimanjaro, Mt. Meru is an hour drive from Mt. Kilimanjaro and is often called its little sister. It has a jagged cone and dramatic jungle below it, part of Arusha National park. With only a small amount of climbers compared to Kilimanjaro, Mt. Meru is still a great mountain to conqueor. It’s the second highest peak in Tanzania and sits at 4566 mt/14980 ft. Only a few thousand people climb it every year – compared to Kilimanjaro at 25,000 climbers – and it’s much more affordable, less than half the price.

It’s still one of the highest mountains in Africa.
