- Most folks who attempt Kili will agree, it’s the clothes that make the climber. TMAX will be making his trip in January of next year, and is looking for guidance from others who have tried it - will the various bits of ski-related clothing work, or does he have to stock up on a bit more?
- For TMAX, it’s all about the gear… In another post, he’s wanting feedback on the kind of sleeping bag to bring.
- And Kili06 has a point - we hear mostly from the folks who successfully summit the mountain. What about the people who don’t succeed, for one reason or another? Kili06 is “completely confident” she’ll get to the top, and is still looking for a “little reality check” from people who were equally as confident and still didn’t summit. If you didn’t make it to the top, what was the reason?

I climbed Kili in Sept 06. I had been training the whole year & felt confident & excited to summit Kili. However, on day 3 of Machame Route, I came down with flu. I managed to carry on until just 800metres of the summit. I was too weak & tired to continue. It was extremely disaspointing to turn back, I remember it like yesterday. But you just dont know what will happen. I was very fortunate in not having any altitude sickness symptoms, my legs just turned to jelly. I will definitely be going back in a year or two to summit this time! It was an amazing experience.
