Weigh the Packs

At the park entrance, near the trail head, there are places to weigh the packs that the porters are carrying. This is done by the park officials to make sure they aren’t carrying too much weight. Climber John Holman weighed his day pack which came in at 8kg, or 17.6 lbs. Most porters on Kilimanjaro carry an average of 25 to 30 kilos, which is about 55 to 65 pounds.
