Start of Machame Trail

It doesn’t look like much, but this is the start of the Machame Trail once inside the park boundaries of Kilimanjaro. It’s gorgeous once you get into the deep forest. This area can be very muddy (and very deep, slick mud) since it rains a lot in this area. The key to navigating Kilimanjaro’s infamous mud: trekking poles and gaiters.
