Here is a picture of Shira Camp One, usually the second night while climbing Kilimanjaro on the Machame Route. It can also be the third night while coming up the Lemosho Route. Shira One is a fairly barren site, with lots of space for big groups. It’s probably my least favorite camp as it’s fairly exposed to wind and rain. If you need emergency evacuation, you can still easily get down from the Machame Route, by hiking to Shira Camp Two and then arranging for an emergency evacuation.

Donovan, I believe this picture is the New Shira Camp next to the older Shira Cave Camp on the Machame route. Shira 2 (or Shira Hut) is a bit further along. Shira 1 Camp is next to the Shira Ridge on the Lemosho Route. You reach Shira 1 on day 2 after spending the night in the Forest or Big Tree Camp.
You are right. My mistake! It’s the new Shira Camp.
